וַיָּשָׁב שָׁאוּל מִרְדֹף אַחֲרֵי דָוִד וַיֵּלֶךְ לִקְרַאת פְּלִשְׁתִּים עַל־כֵּן קָֽרְאוּ לַמָּקֹום הַהוּא סֶלַע הַֽמַּחְלְקֹֽות׃

סֶלַע יִשְׁכֹּן וְיִתְלֹנָן עַֽל־שֶׁן־סֶלַע וּמְצוּדָֽה׃

וַיַּעֲלֵנִי מִבֹּור שָׁאֹון מִטִּיט הַיָּוֵן וַיָּקֶם עַל־סֶלַע רַגְלַי כֹּונֵן אֲשֻׁרָֽי׃

יִשְׂאוּ מִדְבָּר וְעָרָיו חֲצֵרִים תֵּשֵׁב קֵדָר יָרֹנּוּ יֹשְׁבֵי סֶלַע מֵרֹאשׁ הָרִים יִצְוָֽחוּ׃

כִּי דָמָהּ בְּתֹוכָהּ הָיָה עַל־צְחִיחַ סֶלַע שָׂמָתְהוּ לֹא שְׁפָכַתְהוּ עַל־הָאָרֶץ לְכַסֹּות עָלָיו עָפָֽר׃
