וַיֹּאמְרוּ קוּמָה וְנַעֲלֶה עֲלֵיהֶם כִּי רָאִינוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ וְהִנֵּה טֹובָה מְאֹד וְאַתֶּם מַחְשִׁים אַל־תֵּעָצְלוּ לָלֶכֶת לָבֹא לָרֶשֶׁת אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

וַיֹּאמֶר מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶל־עֲבָדָיו הַיְדַעְתֶּם כִּֽי־לָנוּ רָמֹת גִּלְעָד וַאֲנַחְנוּ מַחְשִׁים מִקַּחַת אֹתָהּ מִיַּד מֶלֶךְ אֲרָֽם׃

וַיֹּאמְרוּ אִישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵהוּ לֹֽא־כֵן אֲנַחְנוּ עֹשִׂים הַיֹּום הַזֶּה יֹום־בְּשֹׂרָה הוּא וַאֲנַחְנוּ מַחְשִׁים וְחִכִּינוּ עַד־אֹור הַבֹּקֶר וּמְצָאָנוּ עָוֹון וְעַתָּה לְכוּ וְנָבֹאָה וְנַגִּידָה בֵּית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

וְהַלְוִיִּם מַחְשִׁים לְכָל־הָעָם לֵאמֹר הַסּוּ כִּי הַיֹּום קָדֹשׁ וְאַל־תֵּעָצֵֽבוּ׃
